What the weather is like
Salalah has a hot desert climate (Köppen BWh): very little rain and intense sun.
The warmest month is May, when afternoons average 32° and nights 26°. January is the coolest month, with highs of 25° and lows of 19°. The difference between the warmest and the coolest month is about 7°, a small seasonal swing typical of places tempered by the sea.
About 149 mm of precipitation falls in an average year. July is the wettest month (42 mm, 3 wet days) and January the driest (2 mm, 0 wet days). Cloud cover ranges from 8% in November to 34% in July.
The sea reaches about 29° in May. Sea temperatures lag the air by a month or two, so late summer is usually warmer for swimming than early summer.
